First, due to a mistake, she got off the train at the wrong stop and found herself stranded in the wilderness, with coyotes howling in the distance. She was relieved when a man appeared, but her relief quickly turned to fear when she realized he was not a respectable person. When she refused his advances, she was left alone once again. Tired and hungry, she ended up stumbling into a camp where the man and other rough characters lived. It was only then did her luck turn as she met Lance Gardley, a kind and decent young man who lived among them. After finding her in the wilderness, he made it his mission to ensure she reached her destination safely.
