Beschreibungen

This book introduces readers to hydrogen as an essential energy carrier for use with renewable sources of primary energy. It provides an overview of the state of the art, while also highlighting the developmental and market potential of hydrogen in the context of energy technologies; mobile, stationary and portable applications; uninterruptible power supplies and in the chemical industry. Written by experienced practitioners, the book addresses the needs of engineers, chemists and business managers, as well as graduate students and researchers.
Hydrogen as a strategic energy carrier.- Role of hydrogen in industrial energy storage for power grids.- Safety in hydrogen-based applications.- Mobile applications.- Mobile aerospace applications.- Fuel cells in household power supplies.- Uninterruptible power supplies.- Security-relevant applications.- Portable fuel cells.- Uses of conventional and green hydrogen in the chemical industry.- Electrolysis methods.- Industrial electrolysis.- Costs of providing hydrogen for power supplies based on renewable energies.- Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEFCs): state of the art and outlook.

Dr. Töpler is Vice-Chairman of the Managerial Board at the German Hydrogen and
Fuel Cell Association (DWV). He has 30 years of experience in the area of hydrogen for
mobile applications and was more than 25 years lecturer for Renewable Energies at the University of Applied Sciences in Esslingen.

Prof. Lehmann is a respected expert for hydrogen technologies. After having served as a professor at the Stralsund University of Applied Sciences from 1991 to 2010, he is now a member of the Managerial Board at the DWV. His research activities currently focus on the use of regenerative energies and hydrogen-based energy.
