He is the author of numerous books on filmmaking, including </span><span>Stanley Kubrick: A Biography</span><span>, </span><span>The Encyclopedia of American Independent Filmmaking</span><span>, </span><span>Martin Scorsese: A Biography</span><span>, and </span><span>Becoming Film Literate: The Art and Craft of Motion Pictures</span><span>.
