"This book deals with the topic of universities as institutions that undertake a major societal function, which is building capacity in the citizens of any country in the world, refining their personalities, and providing them with skills, knowledge, and methods for thinking and analyzing problems that will make them able to enter fields of work equipped with the ability to innovate and excel, and to compete honorably scientifically and professionally, whether In their homelands or anywhere in the world they find opportunities to work, create and excel.

The world has witnessed a sharp variation in the conditions of universities with the beginnings of three revolutions: the globalization revolution, the technology revolution, and the knowledge revolution, which had the greatest impact on changing human lifestyles. Universities in different countries of the world were divided into two parts; One section includes universities that kept up with these three revolutions and continued to pursue them, and we can call them "modern universities." The other section includes universities that maintained the old approach in their journey, and only a few traces of the factors of sweeping change reached them and with formal patterns that do not reach the roots of those institutions. , which we call in this book "traditional universities."

World-Class Universities have developed that are distinguished by their strong entry into the future. They are characterized by abundant research production and knowledge additions. They include distinguished members of professors and researchers who are the best from all over the world. They only accept distinguished students from different countries. They are universities rich in their information resources. Knowledge and its scientific publications have an impact that goes beyond their countries and even extends to the entire world.

The universities of the future are usually at the top of the lists of the best universities in the world, and are certainly characterized by strategic management systems, apply the highest quality standards and models of excellence in university performance, and are subject to governance principles and systems. These are universities with small numbers of students. The number of students studying in undergraduate programs is almost equal to those studying in postgraduate master's and doctoral programs.
Most of these world-class universities in the developed world are government universities, some of which are private universities, but they all enjoy the highest degrees of academic, administrative and financial metabolism, and receive shares of government funding to support their scientific research.
